BTI Continuing Education Workshops

Keys to an Ethical and Successful Practice

with Kevin Powell, MA, LMBT

Offered twice in 2012: Friday, April 20 (or) Friday, September 7
9:30am-4:30pm | 6 continuing education contact hours | $135

The way in which you conduct your practice shapes the experience of your clients far more than the selection of hands-on techniques used in a session.

Globe-handsThis workshop will focus on the essential framework of your practice, which includes everything from your business policies, intake procedures, style and nature of communication with your clients and fellow practitioners, the treatment environment, handling of client needs and expectations, and most importantly, the dynamics of the client/therapist relationship.

We will explore this framework within the external factors of community awareness, and the prevailing laws, rules and codes of ethics for the practice of massage and bodywork therapy.

Handling these many elements in a consistent and effective manner is what creates "customer satisfaction" and builds a strong professional reputation over time. A thriving practice does not happen by chance – it is the result of your ongoing, diligent actions.

In this workshop, we will also work with an intrinsic model of ethics based upon the three Vital Centers of Intelligence: Head (intellect), Heart (intuition) and Hara (instinct). By combining your inner wisdom with time-tested principles of professional behavior, you will reduce the potential for ethical pitfalls, while increasing the satisfaction and success of your therapeutic practice.

NOTE: This course meet the ethics education requirements for license renewal with the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy, and for recertification with NCBTMB.
