BTI Continuing Education Workshops
Anatomy Trains - Myofascial Meridians for Manual Therapists
with Carrie Gaynor, RN, RYT
October 10-12 | Friday-Sunday, 9:30am-5:30pm
21 continuing education contact hours | $425 | for practitioners only
Developed by Tom Myers, Anatomy Trains is a revolutionary re-vision of musculo-skeletal anatomy in terms of functionally connected lines of myofascia. This workshop will transform your concepts of the body and expand your comprehension of your clients' posture and movement -- and the compensatory strain patterns that lead to pain syndromes. The Anatomy Trains concept moves beyond mechanical 'cause and effect' actions of muscles to the integrative relational connections of real-life functional movement.
All 12 myofascial meridians are described, built onto the skeleton, palpated, stretched, and used in postural assessment, with many illustrations and examples. Half of the time will be spent on presenting the lines, half on fascial plane and myofascial release techniques from Tom's Structural Integration and movement 'library'.
This workshop will help you:
- Assess your client's postural and movement patterns with greater accuracy and integration
- Give you access to effective treatment strategies which may occur some distance from the site of pain or limitation
- Enable you to make distinct changes in your clients' structure in a few short moves
You will get:
- A succinct and relevant introduction to the embryology, geometry, and character of the connective tissue and the topology of fascial planes
- A complete description of (and feel for) the 6 major and 6 supplemental fascial meridians along which movement, tension, and postural distortion travel
- Strategy outlines for resolving postural distortions that lead to limitation and injury
Note: This workshop is a requirement for those applying to the Professional Certification Program in Kinesis Myofascial Integration.
