BTI - Continuing Education Workshops

Explore the Core: Advanced Experiential Anatomy

with Carol Verner, LMBT

February 14-15 | Thursday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm
12 continuing education contact hours | $235 | practitioners only

Explore the CoreGet an in-depth experience of the muscles, fascia and organs of the inner torso through movement, palpation and building structures in clay on the Maniken® model. You will gain practical anatomical and experiential skills that you can use with your clients and students to improve alignment, reduce pain, and connect them to the intelligence of their own bodies.

Core strength creates an integrated center from which to move with greater stability, agility and safety. With embodied awareness of our core, we live from this powerful center and produce actions that are more effective and more authentic.

Designed for therapists, teachers and students of
body-centered therapies and practices, including:
massage, bodywork, yoga, Pilates, exercise, dance, movement repatterning, personal training and the performing arts. You will get expert guidance through cognitive, kinesthetic, and experiential learning:

  • Palpation on yourself and partners anchors your ability to find and work with core structures
  • Comfortable learning rhythm includes time for your questions and interests
  • Illustrated lecture and discussions awaken the mind to core structures
  • Hand-building muscles and organs on Maniken® models reveal shape, position and three-dimensional relationships of inner and outer structures of the core body
  • Yoga and Body-Mind Centering movement experiences teach you to find and work with increased awareness of core structures through a felt sense of the organs and glands, muscles and bones

This course will enable you to:

  • Accurately visualize the structures of the core body
  • Understand the actions and relationships of the core muscles
  • Respectfully palpate muscles, bones and organs of the core
  • Use yoga, movement and experiential exercises to develop a felt sense of core structures

Please dress for movement -- and bring a yoga mat (or two, for comfort).
