Somatics & Embodiment

with Richard Strozzi-Heckler, PhD

Based in Northern California, Strozzi Institute is the country’s premier training center for Embodied Leadership. For more than 30 years, founder Richard Strozzi-Heckler, PhD and his staff have offered revolutionary programs for those who are interested in developing their leadership presence and effectiveness. In addition, they offer a unique somatic coaching certification program that teaches the relevance of the body in working with others.

Dr. Heckler writes:

There is in each of us the capacity to re-awaken the embodied intelligence that streams through us and enlivens the feelings, expressions, conversations, and experiences that make up who we are. To interact with our environment in a responsive and enriching way requires that we live the wisdom of the body. This is the innate capacity to transform knowledge and vision into a muscular commitment to effective action in the world.

We have forgotten that our existence as human beings is inseparable from our biological heritage. This disconnection from our deep ancient intelligence has produced a profound sense of alienation in our culture. When we deny the life of the body we're unable to organize ourselves towards fulfillment and we lose the capacity to experience compassion, delight, wonder and awe.
