I don't download stuff for 'free' without paying for it. If everyone downloaded stuff without paying for it, there would be no content, going forward. There would be no new tv series, no re-runs, none of anything.

I could do the same in the sex industry, for i could book a girl, visit her and fuck her, and then refuse to pay at the end of the appt, but again, that hurts the entire industry if you take everything you want for free.

The difference is that for the latter, one of these days you'll be beaten to a bloody pulp by some pimp.

DVDs and Blu Ray are way better than streaming.

Streaming has many tech difficulties, you have to pay for your internet service, you can't take them with you up to the cottage, you can't lend them to people or give your internet streaming as a gift. DVDs can do all that. Simple, great, reliable, portable, giftable.

I have Netflix, but not all the movies on there that I want. And searching and searching for the movie I want - wasting time doing so - no thanks.

I grew up in an era when there was no converter, no cell phone, no internet etc. People were more resourceful, harder working, more capable, smarter.

Today's internet and smart phone generation is dumb as piss.

I bought the complete series - all seasons, all episodes - of the following TV classics on DVD format:

Roseanne
Married with Children
2 and 1/2 Men (Seasons with Charlie)
Family Ties
Seinfeld

Money well spent And all it cost me was the equivalent of a 1 hour appt with a sex worker. And for me, all that would entail is 2 minutes of actual pussy thrusting and then 58 minutes of pillow talk.

Retirement from the Hobby is good folks. You should try it.

Those are all boring sitcoms. Try something good like Cheers, Hogans Heros, Gomer Pyle. And you can't go wrong with Action Adventure, such as MacGyver, Six Million Dollar Man, Mission Impossible, Knight Rider.

I respect your viewpoint, but the way I look at it is: If I only have fifteen to twenty years of life left, why not just keep what I'm happy with in the format I'm happy with? DVDs don't crash, don't get viruses, don't need subscriptions. Now, for someone who constantly needs something new without pausing to reflect on what they've just seen (and will likely never see again), then computers are the best for distraction. But I like to savour a good joke--I can't tell you how many times I've watched every episode of Seinfeld or All in the Family. Also, you can't take it with you. Do I care if the format I choose to watch will, ostensibly, last forever? No. I'm sure DVDs will last me the next ten years which is all I ask. I don't need a format that will preserve them long after I'm in the ground. That's neurotic thinking. I likes what I likes, and I don't begrudge anyone their own methods and ways of watching what they likes--I'm just explaining my thinking behind why I prefer my DVDs.

I agree. I'd rather read the newspaper than to read the news on the Internet.

I like the newspaper over the internet as well. I like the journalistic access that verteran newspaper staff develop over the years, versus any random internet site that just posts opinions instead of talking to the sources of the stories they write about. Problem is that newspapers are $2 an issue, every day. So, the value isn't there. The ink gets on your hands, all over your couch etc. And most papers have gone hard left. So unless you believe that the government is your friend and businesses are evil, the paper turns off more than it attracts.

My favourite website, currently, is InfoWars, by Alex Jones. The stuff he uncovers is amazing.

My collection has been narrowed down to just my essentials (I always remember the line from Fight Club: "The things you own end up owning you.").
