Canadian Government should pay Canada Post Employees More

Canada Post is an excellent crown corporation. They help businesses and individuals communicate and send mail all over Canada, to millions of citizens, every day. There activities signifigantly benefit the Canadian economy and they do a better job than UPS or Fedex at delivering small packages, based on a combination of time, cost and accuracy.

Canada Post workers, comparatively speaking, get paid much less than other government workers, especially when taking into account the heavy loads they carry on a daily basis. It is very common to meet postal workers with bad knees, bad backs, bad shoulder etc. Easy to understand if you watch what they have to carry day in and day out.

As a country, we give Billions in international aid, every year, to foreign countries who do little for us in return.

Let's redirect that money and give it to Canada post workers.

Have you ever tried to send a small package, registered, to an address in Canada, with UPS? I once took a package to a UPS store so they wouldn't have to come and get it, and I asked how much it is? Their Price? $40. Canada Post's Price? $8.

UPS said that if I opened an account and did larger volumes, they would give me 'a better rate'. I took the fucking package right to the UPS store and they still wanted $40 for one package that weighed less than 100 grams.

No wonder UPS stores are closing so frequently throughout Canada. Feel bad for the Franchisees though.

UPS is an asshole company.

In the U.S., UPS is much more customer friendly to walk-ins. In Canada, they want to rape us.

I am as libertarian as they come, but we already have the Canada Post network in place and they are doing a better job than the private sector (although granted, UPS isnt allowed to complete on mail), so why not keep them happy. They are a great Crown corporation.

Canada Post has to be one of the top 3 govt services in the country. Really amazing service they provide.

If Canada Post goes on strike, the economy will suffer. It isn't good.

Let's stop helping Syrian 'Refugees' and lets give the money to Canada Post workers.

Canada Post has failed to get my packages delivered on time (through XPress Post) at least 15-20% of the time. Right now I am fighting with them over a few hundred dollars in penalties because they didn't deliver on time. They are a mess. I realize part of the issue is that they have had their funding cut dramatically over recent years. But for years they were overpaying their employees, like most government agencies.

That's funny when you say UPS is an asshole company. Remember their slogan, "What can brown do for you?"

Seriously though, Canada Post wants to eliminate company pensions for new employees also. And about the Syrian refugees. Remember when Steven Harper was PM, he said he would allow 15,000 refugees to Canada? Then as an election bribe, Justin Falsedeau said he would bring in 25,000 refugees. I thought that was too excessive. That's equivalent to a small city. Wouldn't it be more efficient to get the UN to fix the problems in that area of the world so that we don't have to create our own problems by permitting so many refugees into our country, costing us millions in taxpayer's money? It would make too much sense, right?
