I heard a figure of US$10k + all flights accommodation and expenses for Hed Kandi the first time at Stereo Lab...have no idea if that is true however they did play up in BKK the next night as well...may have been part of a package

I can't see how Stereo Lab ever made any money out of their big name DJ nights...they couldn't charge entry fee being open to the beach...its hard for me to see even Seduction making money out of the big names....maybe they have big figures in their promotion budgets to get a marquee act in the hope of building their brands...I can't see money in it if they are paying the standard rates of some of the world travelling DJs

I chatted to one of these dj's, its like a distant memory and for the life of me I cannot remember who or where, but do remember he said that it was a lot smaller money than Europe but he was trying to break the se asian market as felt in the long run would be a good scene. He was on a tour of quite a few places/countries over 2 or 3 weeks and said he treated it as a working holiday, investment for potential future.

Wow I wish my memory was better, it really lets me down these days and just keeps reminding me how senile and decrepid I'm getting!!!

I know Emanuel from Bed Club in BKK got paid 15k baht for one night at Whitebox recently. He's been offered more gigs there for 10k a night.

From euro gigs its far closer to Nels's quoted 10k usd for name DJ's.. And rising rapidly for top tier names.

Tiesto is at the very top of the tree and is a recording star and producer in his own right.....still its big money to own a LJ...maybe he charters one when necessary (and the promoter pay the tab)

either way its a shite load of money for a DJ to be spending....I have read his standard appearance (couple of hour fee) is about 25k euro and a festival fee up to 100k euro.....plus as I said take into account his production fees and record sales and he would be making a mint by most DJs standards

even so those sort of aircraft run into the million+ dollar area to own and operate per annum so he must love planes

Oakenfold was getting 100k per set for a new year appearance at least a decade ago.. Plus he would get 3 or so in by being cunning with timezones and set times.. Few 100k for a night..

If you think they give talentless oxegen thieves like Hilton etc ferrirs / bentleys / and cash just to turn up to vegas parties to make a buzz, the actual performers shoudl get more.

david guetta charges $25k usd for a set. just heard it on the radio. good for him.

never been a fan of paying a premium to see (or hear!) top dj's, as they can play such cutting edge stuff that i don't recognise any of it. now an oakenfold set, packed with classics, that i would pay money for. IIRC he founded perfecto records.

experienced a few of the ibiza clubs in my younger days and felt that there was no real atmosphere to them -just an artificial one cus everyone was off their face on tablets.

Lots of the fairly famous international DJ's that appear here get shared amongst the clubs, so it will be a couple of days in Phuket then onto Bangkok etc... I think the organisers get them some nice accommodation for them and the family, pay their way over here and then they get paid a sort of mates rates, compared to what they probably charge for a big club back home. From what I understand, anything from US$500 to $10,000 depending on a number of variables. Superstar DJ's have been known to be paid 100k US$ for a massive gig even over here.

Local DJ's are typically 10,000-15,000 Baht for a night, sometimes including the flight down from Bangkok.
