Taster sessions at weekend event

Hi all

Just looking for some advice please. I am hiring a table at a therapy weekend soon for doing Indian head massage tasters and was just wondering if anyone can offer some advice on what type of thing would be needed to make it look appealing. This is the first I have done something like this. My thoughts so far were to have a nice tablecover (as advised anyway) and get a picture frame with the price etc of my tasters and some brochures printed. As far as I'm aware, I just use one their normal chairs. I was going to take along some small bottles of water or cups for water. I'm also not sure if I should be using oil or not as it is only 15 min tasters. Anyone's advice on this would really be appreciated.

Hi there Tracey - first of all hope you have a great time!!

I have done reiki at a couple of these shows and I tend to cover the table with some voile so it looks sort of floaty - I alsoplace a few crystals such as amethyst and a statuette (I have a really nice one of a lady meditating) on the table. Another good idea is an incense burner.

Not done Indian Head Massage (yet!!) so can't advise about oils - I know when I had one done as a taster tho they didn't use oils.

I haven't actually done anything like this. However, if I were to, I would carry out the massage over clothes for the taster (no oil) and explain to the client that this is just one way to do it. How about displaying a chakra chart so that they can see which chakras are affected? Also, make sure you have lots of your own literature on view and that you list your usual prices too (not just the taster ones). This way, there will be no confusion.

when i did an event like this, wedid it for a school pampering evening, even so t was still a 'taster' so what i did was
1. have some candles - that makes them feel relaxed- visual
2. nice music - relaxing
3. my cards and brouchres fanned out on the table, and gave them one when they left - maybe with a discount for next real visit
4. after care sheet - with clients details so that you can keep in contact with them with future brouchres etc......
5. i just used normal oil nothing added to it
6. and a few nice smellies in the room
walla............ you clients with be begging you for more....... good luck

Just wanted to say thanks for your replies and some good advice. There will be a background screen for displaying stuff so think I will get a poster on chakras etc. Feeling a bit nervous about it but also looking forward to it. Will let you know how it goes, it's next week.

Hi all

Just thought I would let you know what a success and enjoyable time I had at my first health fair. On the Saturday I was a bag of nerves, never having done this before, but after my third client or so I was running on adrenaline. Almost from the time it opened, till it closed I had person after person, not even having time for a cup of coffee. On the Sunday it was a bit quieter but still managed to do 10 people - and all with positive comments and feedback. Although I seemed to bring in a fair amount of money, by the time I paid for the stall and put towards material I had bought for my display, printing brochures etc (not to mention my hubby getting a parking ticket!) I didn't have much left - however the experience and confidence it gave me seems much more than the money. The range of people I had was amazing and everyone was so nice (apart from one). All in all it was a good day, I'm just going to book my next one now.
