Does anyone just use PayPal for their website GC's?

I wouldn't mind giving SpaBoom the 5% if they could also process the credit card. Their concept is good, but in my opinion, only 1/2 of the solution. I may get flamed for these comments, but think others should be aware that if you don't already use PayPal or their other payment partner option.. I think it is Authorize.net... you can't even use them without incurring more expense in a new service to even get paid.

I looked into incorporating them into my website this year for Christmas, but found the PayPal fee of $20 a month on top of the 5% to SpaBoom too prohibiting at this point. I already pay ProPay to process credit cards, and thought that a company of their size would have the ability to utilize any processing service, but according to them, I am wrong. What a disappointment!! I hope they do begin to partner up with other CC services.

Very much in agreement with this post! I'm prety good with HTML, so using the Payal shopping cart is winning out over SpaBoom because, and only because of they do not process the cards. Shame, good concept but needs to run with it to the finish line.

That is exactly my point. If they handled the charge, then by all means I would have signed up for their service. But I just wanted something simple that I can send my clients to, in order to pay me in a simple manner, and do the other work myself as well. I don't mind sticking something in the mail, or generating an online gift certificate. I just recently had a problem that someone called me to mail them a GC in December. I had to wait for the check, cash it, then send the GC to California from NY since she wanted to give it to her daughter personally. I wish I had time to make sure the check cleared but then there wouldn't have been time to send it back. With a GC payment, it would have been in the mail that day. I really don't want to have 2 services in order to send out a GC where I am then losing my profits on a % basis.

We looked into PayPal for CC processing, and yes, you need a certain type of PayPal account to use with SpaBoom. That PayPal account DOES run $20 per month, which adds up to **$240** per year.. and on top of that, they keep your money until a GC is redeemed (!) (up to 18 mos). That's just wrong. Verdict: PayPal is a RIP. We went with ProPay instead. Their yearly fees are $60. Some say their transaction fees are higher, but then we're a pretty low-volume practice who only accepts CCs for GCs on the website (cash only for everything else), so it works out great for us.

Feedback for SpaBoom admin: Larry, if you team up with other CC companies for processing, please continue to allow us the option of using one of our own choosing--without penalty (I know how these companies like to "negotiate" their deals!)

I'm with jyoti on ProPay. I think their transaction fees are a bit higher than some other places, but you will save money in the long run if you aren't doing large volume cc processing.

I am just using the basic paypal account, nothing with fees just the charge % as used. Unfortunately no one has used it yet so I can't see if it works or not...
