Hello All, I know that different models have been discussed already but I want to know which face cradles do you and your clients like best? I have looked into boiance and kur and kurve. I want to make a smart investment and give my clients the best expeerience. So far I'm leaning toward the kurve but I'd really like to here from more people about their results. I'm looking for comfort and as little as possible sinus pressure. Personally I am one of those people that can't breathe after ten minutes on my face. Thanks for all your input!

If you really want to search in depth all over the forums, put sinus* in your search function with that "*" and you'll get a lot I would think. Hopefully this will get you some info while you wait for more comments.

Yes of course those suggestions are helpful but I have already considered them and had when I made my post. I want current updated feedback and ideas. I'm sure most people who have viewed my post thought the same thing you did, that I just missed the other postings. I suppose I should have stated my intention for up-to-date information more clear when I made my origional post, maybe then I would have gotten some helpful replies. Thank you pueppi for your help I appreciate it. I just wanted to have a fresh discussion.

hey diana!

well, here are my thoughts. i currently use the boiance face cradle. i like it and so do my clients. i too thought about getting the kurve but what i felt when i received massage in one is that it didn't have enough space for me to get fresh air. does that make sense? i like to have space around my mouth, nose & chin. with the kurve, i felt the space was too small to breathe into/through. it was pretty comfortable though and i think if you shifted the face cradle cover around enough you could make it work. but my vote is for the boiance. my 2 cents. and yes, i understand about wanting your post answered instead of reading other info from other posts. i'm happy to help! (other's should be too!)

There are so many face cradles on the market now, I can see why it would be difficult to choose. I wish I could say there was one that was superior to the rest, but in my experience, there is no perfect face cradle (or face pillow). Although some MT’s claim that certain pillows eliminate sinus congestion, I’ve tried everything from memory foam to Boiance, and sinus congestion for certain clients remains a problem with all the brands.

Memory foam’s an interesting material, because some clients say it’s so soft that it’s the most comfortable face rest they’ve ever experienced. But other clients literally have the opposite reaction. For them, the memory foam feels extremely hard and they develop face pain or a headache from the pressure. Same face pillow – opposite reactions.

If you read the threads on the various products, you’ll see mixed reviews on all of them. I've tried Boiance, Kurve & a Standard Memory Foam Face Pillow. With each trial, most of my clients either didn’t notice the difference or didn’t care one way or the other. Of those that did express an opinion, half preferred the new pillow each time, and half hated the new pillow. In the end, I went back to using what I’ve always used:

Thank you Blisss and Terab for your input. I appreciate the help. Blisss I think you are right about the clients not really noticeing and some accepting change and some rejecting it. I suppose I'll just experiment as my finances allow.

I considered the Kurve as well, but have stuck with the memory foam for the time being. It would be relatively simple should you want to, to slightly customize your foam
inserts. I do have a fleece pad on top of my face cradle though, which adds to the softness of it. I haven't "customized" my face cradle as yet, though I did do that to the extra padding on my table, (in the breast/glide zone) by cutting away portions in the areas I wanted to open up further.

I think the sinus issue just comes with the territory. When you lay on your face, all the fluids in the sinus cavity drain forward and pool at the lowest point, just like nature intended. (whether we like it or not)

On the upside, when people get up, all the congestion clears in a relatively short period.

I purchased the Kurve face rest and at first was very unhappy with it. The picture in massagewarehouse makes it look much more comfy than it is. The actual pillow is much thicker and has much less room for the nose and mouth, and (for me, at least....and everyone else in my office) the eye areas don't line up correctly. The base is a funny curved shape that raises the face rest higher off the table than a flat face rest would. So I really hated it. UNTIL........

I took my "Kur" memory foam face pillow from M.Warehouse, which I had always disliked on a flat base, and I added it to my Kurve base. Voila! Magic! I added a fleece topper, and it's actually the most comfortable face rest I have ever used. I use the bodyCushion support system with my massages, and the Kurve base will raise up high enough to accomodate the extra height needed. It will also fit clients lying on my flat table very well.

So I'm very pleased that I tried it, although I've still got the Kurve pillow on the top shelf of my closet, unused. I may give the Boiance pillow a try someday, since it sounds neat, too. But for now, I'm extremely happy with my customized Kurve/Kur facerest.

I dont think those little hollows are for eyes. I believe they are to take the pressure off of the temple area.

Hmmmm... could be. But the consensus of the therapists in my office was that it actually created pressure on the eyes themselves. Anyway, no one found it comfortable...too constricting. And believe me, I tried positioning it every which way on the base.

I'll put in my vote for the Boiance face pillow. Most of my clients really like it, never had a complaint with it. Although it doesn't relieve congestion in all my clients, some it really helps.

I have a chillable gel pack that I can slip under the cradle cover. While nothing entirely relieves the "drip" for me, the cold pack does reduce it a LOT. People like it in the summertime too. (I use this with my memory-foam cushion. It means I have to have enormous cradle covers -- I have to check before I buy.)

Where do you buy your enormous face cradle covers? Can you get them in flannel? I always have trouble finding some that are big enough for my face pillow.

Well the ones that come with the MassageWarehouse flannel sheet sets are pretty roomy. As I was reading your reply though I realized that I just contracted with my mother to have a couple dozen covers made -- because I want them even bigger! So I guess I shouldn't have posted so forgetfully.
