damn it... my friend is getting married next month and we wanted to go to TJ/adelitas as sort of a bachelor party. not so sure now though. it's been a while since i've gone to adelitas and i miss it

Seems like they were going to a party for a guy released from prison for drug related charges....and something went bad. By the nature of their deaths, it seems obvious that it was done by someone in a cartel.

If you wait for positive things in the US press, it could be a long wait. I would pay far more attention to forums like this for the truth.

Now what you are proposing is what I see happening often. I actually am benefiting from this. Guy are scared of all the violence so they lock themselves into a room and have chicas delivered 2 or 3 times a day. I am happy to accommodate them, but it just is not that dangerous.

this might be the best time for a plan like that. very few customers, lots of free time, you might be able to make it happen. usually sg and stripper go to the hotel that gives them a kickback, so they usualiy don't want to go to your hotel. but with economics on your side anything is possible.

I was actually thinking about going in about a year and a half - hopefully they've cleaned up by then.

I've heard nothing but negativity and violence coming from the Tijuana area. I used to go at least once a month but over the past couple years I've not been able to afford it and now that I'm thinking about going back, all I'm hearing is negative things.

I'm definitely going to sit back and wait, mostly because I'm going to be travelling alone. No one around me knows that I live a hobbying lifestyle, therefore taking someone with me is out of the question. Besides that, I'm looking to make it a semi-long term vacation in Tijuana. I would like to get a hotel room, a good stock of alcohol, and invite street-walkers and strippers back to my place for a bit of a good time. Right now does not seem like a good time to do that.

Aside from the flu there is the policia as all are aware.

Last night ( Sat ) there was not a uniformed , rifle toting , masked cop / vehicle in the Zone or on the road home late at night. They ALL DISAPPEARED at dusk.. No metro , federal or military ; so much for protecting and serving the public. The Alley was less inhibiting and the difference was noticable ( for the good ). Don't know for sure but one might assume this lack of police was the same through out the city. Certainly was true for the Playas.

Noticed a police sub-station that we go by on the way in to Zona. Daylight at about 10:00AM yesterday they had taken two 3/4 ton vans and blocked off access as in a protective barrier . Guess they hunker down in the station until dawn today, will know that later this morning. Might be that the government gave them a 5 days close down with other gvt business because of the flu ( humor ).

Usually , the military encampment on way to Playas is lite to some degree at night , they had it a black out

Well put Mandrake and for my part I offer my apology. However I , like others , have every right to contest false accusations made within this forum with the truth ; so on to more positive things.

If readers would like a weekly update as to; security , violence ( there has been none ) in the Zona , polica harrassment , etc ,. I could spend the time to post what I come across. Much like a surf report but not a daily schedule and it will not deal with the ladies.

A more humorous , insight thread might be my nemisis ( sp ) would like to know 1st hand how to dry out wet $1 bills that come from HK shower , a subject that has to be TJ related if only under the subject of SDT .

I add a personal observation since this " soap opera " got heated , many Americians have stopped by the store showing an interest in what they see. This is fact and for the most part just curosity. This morning one American came in and purchased much more than any prior customer on any one purchase . He was followed by a group of three Americans who purchased an equal amount and all this is relatively new and a direct result of this thread which was not my intent . Guess they can find the place

I did not get involved in this for profit only to help my fellow countrymen. If anyone has a subject that I can give input to I would be happy to do so.

Plenty of violence through out Mexico and rest of the world , that would include US. As an insider as to whether Zona Norte is safe I offer my opinion. Opened a store on Cjon Coahuila ( Alley ) in Dec thus my insiders reference.

The Zona is larger than most realize in size and because of that my opiniopn is restricted to the mongering area. Were an unsuspecting party to venture a block or two outside the mongering area at the wrong time would be foolish and asking for trouble.

The mongering area is perfectly safe for Americans who are cautious and there to enjoy what it has to offer. There is no doubt in my mind that it is much safer than any other area of Tijuana and that would include residential areas of Agua Caliente and Playas. By " safer " I mean violence... you will be harrassed by the druggies , drunks and other skunks but violence is non-existant for the most part. It is my understanding that you would / could be harrassed by policia when returning but that I offer no input as I always drive.

There is lot's of harrassment going on but for the most part that is the polica
rousting the forementioned drunks, skunks , etc. for no apparant reason. It is very intimadating seeing squads of 6 - 9 men circiling the area in 3 - 4 polica pick up trucks every 10 minutes for the sole purpose of violating what free Americans refer to as Human Rights. Truth be known they are only hasseling the locals and leaving visitors alone.

As much as I disike the unnecessary harrassment on locals there must be a positive side that may not surface until this summer. A very important sign that is easily seen within the mongering area is ; many bars are doing some serious remodeling inside and it all appears to be with required finish date by Easter or shortly there after. I know of one extint bar closed for some period is in a big hurry to get remodeled and open.

Well I was reading the Los Angeles times yesterday, and things aren't looking so good. there was a article about how the drug cartel were using military grade weapons. they had grenades, rpgs, rifles that used 50. cal bullets, and even IEDS (improvised explosive device) that have been known to be used by insurgents in Iraq. and to make matters worse the cartels have better weapons than the mexican police. now I just enlisted in the army and I won't be able to go to Mexico period. but more and more soliders are being deployed to mexico. So I think that since President Obama is starting to withdraw troops from iraq, most of them may be redirected to mexico so things might get worse. just wannted to add my two cents.

I got tired of seeing the warnings on CNN to spring breakers about the dangers of traveling to Mexico.They kept telling those stories every fucking day!

Now I might understand how they might talk about the border area because there has been some cartel actively in the area, but away from our mongering area. But the news agencies don't stop with just the border areas! They even go so far in their sensationalized report to try to say that even Cancun is dangerous!

They know there hasn't been any reported cartel activity in the resorts, but they say " it could happen?"

The good news is the majority of Americans who enjoy Mexico are ignoring these sensationalized news reports and are traveling to Mexico in record numbers to take advaneforum.xxxe of the cheap peso at 15 to 1. Tourism is up in Mexico about 6% or 7% from the last Mexico tourist numbers I was looking at.

The U.S department of defense just put Mexico along with Pakistan as two states that are on the brink of collapse, with Mexico due to its losing war on drug cartels. I am always with the crowd that says that mongers in Zona should be safe as long as we stay within the area, etc. However with the recent developments down there, I am beginning to worry a little. The U.S state department also issued a travel warning a few days ago and advised the spring-break college students to avoid Mexico due to escalating violence. I also read a news story in L.A Times today about a mexican woman who got caught in a cross fire and ended up with more than 70 bullet holes in her ! I am thinking I will avoid TJ for a while until the dust settles a little bit. Let us be extra careful.
