So I just went to E&M tonight - as a walk in close to last call. They would only accept a 30 min appointment.. which is fine. I just wanted my upper back and forearms done. Shouldn’t take super long. I didn’t have anyone in mind and let the front desk lady know that I am just looking for a good massage of my upper back.

I got sent to the basement room, and had Opal. I haven’t seen her before but reputation is that her massage is good.

Spoiler: it wasn’t.

She came in and I indicated I just want my upper back and forearms done. That’s it. No legs, no lower back, no service. Just mid/upper back and forearms. She then immediately asked if I wanted service. I literally just told her no. And then she wanted to know how much tips I was going to pay. I was like.. huh?!!!???! wtf. I just want a massage. If I had an alternative place to go at this hour I would have left but I did not. I guess golden 101 is nearby. I told her to name her price and let’s go. But she wouldn’t pick a number and this went on for maybe 90 seconds. Pretty much 85 seconds longer than it should have gone on for. She eventually states $20 tip for massage only and $40 if I want a handjob. Was I not fucking clear enough already that I didn’t want service?

Eventually she resumes. Yes, of course, she massages my legs. I asked her to skip the legs and work the areas I asked for. Granted, she’s got strong hands and my forearms are feeling great as I type this. But there was maybe 3-4 min on my neck, and less than that on my upper back. Maybe 1 minute or less on my mid back. And then she went for the oil massage. But when she did so, it was more a relaxing Swedish massage than the hard massage I asked for. That went on for 1-2 minutes. And then she ducks to get the hot towels to wipe it off.

10:10pm, I guess was 30 minutes on the dot. But most time for her to do areas I don’t want, and the bartering, and then getting the hot towels.

I got maybe 20 min of massage. And I don’t think she was not happy during it because she thought she was getting $20 tip (spoiler: she didn’t).

I am annoyed. On the way out, I saw Sophie from the last time I was here. I should have stuck with Sophie because it was a better massage than I got from Opal. And there’s been many other girls that I got a better massage from than from Opal.

I've found Opal to be very accommodating but I need to get someone to translate what I want. Obviously from your comments you speak Mandarin fluently (since she speaks almost no English) but you still can't get your message across

My overall experience with Opal also was not that positive. Could be wrong chemistry. But E&M still has many talents like Carla, Ivy, Sandy, Vicky ,Lucy that I would go to ....

My forearms felt good. But I had asked about my back which still doesn’t feel good. I think that if it had the same attention as the arms then it would have been sufficient. And it wasn’t 8 minutes to get the towels - she came in after 9:40 by a couple of minutes. We lost additional time for the wiping down of the towels etc as well, and the explanation of what I wanted. I still feel that 20 minutes just focusing on what I wanted would have been sufficient. But she seemed not happy about just a massage.

When I saw Sophie late in the evening in my last visit some time ago, I let her know what I wanted and that was what she did to the best of her ability - not put in a half assed effort.

To be clear - this isn’t a skill or a strength issue. It’s strictly an attitude issue.

The other points you are making is an attempt to detract from the fact that 20 minutes would have been sufficient time to work on the areas that I asked for - even with everything else wasting time.

If you do speak Mandarin then I apologize and retract most my comments she should have accommodated you. I don't know to many cbc's that speak it fluently though and you didn't confirm it

The girls that work there likely are lucky if the owner pays them 50% of the room fee (if anything). So first of all booking 30 minutes means at best she earns 15 dollars, and without extras the tips also went out of the window. So not suprised you were not the most popular guest. If you are serious about addressing medical issues book 1 hour (yes) with am accedited RMT massage provider. Many semi legit places will be more than happy to provide RMT massage without extras, but it will be at least an hour and usually RMT / medical massage comes at a higher room fee. Seems a trend lately with folks going to a semi legit massage parlor for the cheapest 30 minute session without extras. I'm sorry but that is like going to Ruth's Stakehouse, sitting down and ordering a garden salad with a glass of water and leaving.

Having been to Ruth's near Pearson recently (the Friday of the May long weekend), yes, there are items on the menu for those that don't want to eat steak. The salmon ($59) on salad was great, as was the tap water that I had with it and a small bowl of lemon slices. Tip was ~$35 and the host seemed to be happy with that. There was a blackened salmon on the menu, but the restaurant is very accomodating when I said I just wanted a plain grilled salmon on a green salad with some lemon on the side. Not on the menu, but they charged the same as the blackened salmon and I was fine with that.

I would have to say that if it had been earlier in the evening, I probably would have gone elsewhere, but I had just finished dinner with some friends and realized that my back was killing me and I wouldn't be able to sleep properly. I was proximal to E&M, and have been there in the past with positive experiences with Cici and Sophie, why not go back?

The last time I was there previously, I asked Sophie for a massage only as well, and she was great and did precisely what I asked for and I left her a $100 tip on top of the room fee. Massage only, no services. I was prepared for the same with Opal but the attitude was terrible. Neither Cici nor Sophie discussed tips before hand, and I tipped them both generously. If Opal had just named a number, i would have said yes and moved on, but it wasn't something she wanted to do. In the end, she got more than she asked for, but much less than I was prepared to tip.

Hey, I understand what you're saying, but that's only b/c I have ok grasp of English language.

Not sure if you're native English speaker, but there's really subtleties with the language and culture that you might be missing.

Like when you say she can name her price. You might actually be earnestly being generous, but it might be she simply doesn't understand what you mean. As in, she can't understand why you would be so generous.

like you might have to be really explicit. Like "I pay you $40".

I'm not saying you're in the wrong or anything. Just that these unfortunate things happen and it could have went better for everyone.

Place has clearly gone downhill, same attitude issues with Vicky. There is much better spas nearby with better customer experience.
