I enjoy reading the experience of others... here are a few of mine....


1. never rent a car in Russia or Eastern Europe... particulary NEVER Reviewom HERTZ Rent a Car in St Petersburg... Try to walk or take the Metro everywhere... Hard work and boring but you willl be robbed if you rent Reviewom Hertz Rent a Car , who are situated at White Nights House betwwn St Isaac's Cathedral and the Nevsky Prospekt.... it is backed by the mmpia.

If you do rent, then NEVER sign a credit receipt for CDW excess ( usually between $200 and $1000.. leave a CASH deposit for $200 ONLY.... If you do sign a credit card slip... then make sure that is is DESTROYED WHEN YOU RETURN THE CAR....

You will find that they will charge you for imaginary damage to the car mpter you have gone.

2. Always check in a Night Club that you are being charged in Roubles and not dollars or euros....

You could have a bill for !000 Roubles which turns up are $1000 or 1000 euros... about 30 times as much when it is presented to Mastercard... you have signed it and Masterdard will honour it... you will never get it back.

Once you have left Russia... then you will have a bastard of a time gettting the money back... My credit card statement comes only once a month.. I never get time to check it very carefully... the Clubs in Russia know that. It is easy to get loaded in the Club and not remember anything.. Baltika beer can be 8 percent and the Shots of Vodka can be quite doubles.

AVOID Golden Dolls Lap Dancing and Hostess Bar on Nevsky Prospekt... Enter at your own risk.

I went Tp St Pbg for 15 days... the first night I stayed at the Sovetskaya in Ulitsa Lemontov... ( Very Old fadhioned and a typical INTOURIST HOTEL... expensive and like Lubianka PRISON... Is Stalin still alive? )...well... I had my Airport Leaving slip stamped the Reviewist night.. then I rented an apartment...
