I personally prefer Lotus Touch Therapeutic Oil Gel as my first choice for massage.

My second choice is the Louts Touch Multi-Purpose Massage Cream... also a fantastic product, which happens to be on sale now, so if you are interested, by all means contact New Life Systems and ask for a catalog and about the special on the Multi-purpose massage cream.  These two products are wonderful.

I also use their Extra Cold Pain Relief and their Extra Hot Therapeutic Muscle Ease.

I've even talked with the owner, it's a very nice company, and their customer service reps are super friendly.

What is your favorite Massage Lotion/Cream?

I use Lotus Touch products, too. I like them because they dont stain the sheets or make them stink. I like Biotone massage gel, too, it goes on real nice, has a wonderful glide. I do not like Aura Glow products, because they are all very thick, like crisco! AND they are so darned hard to get out the sheets. Thats what the school started us out on yrs ago. ICK. As for scented ones, I usually take a good basr and add my own essential oils. :}

Well, it seems like I've tried just about everything out there.  For a couple years out of school I used Biotone an found that I couldn't stand the smell after a while and I was getting a drying, contact dermatitis from it (which is odd for me as I'm not sensitive to anything...figured it was from overexposure to the chemicals and such).  For a while I really liked Alba Botanica's Advanced Massage Formula lotion but I wanted something with more glide.Last summer I found my favorite though...I now use a lotion and a cream from a company in Chicago called Natural Formulations.  They are what they say...natural, for the most part (I'm not a chemist but from the label it looks to be so).  They have many different types of lotions, creams, oils, bath scrubs, laundry & dish soaps.  What I did was buy the smallest container of each of the ones that interested me and tried them on my clients. Personally, I like the MC-10 Massage Creme and the MCL Ultra Glide Creme-Lotion.  The lotion is good in the winter when doing deep work or the summer for relaxation/swedish gliding and I like the cream in the winter for swedish.  The packaging is not pretty but the price is right as compared to others (I think I pay something like $30-35 gal).I live in a suburb of Chicago and we go through a pretty big humidity swing throughout the year so that along with the condition of the client's skin and the type of work I'm doing will determine what I use.For really deep work I've been using cocoa butter...yes the hard, yellow lump.  You can melt it and pour it into small dixie style cups and each client will have his own and you don't have to worry about cross-contamination.I rarely use oil unless I'm doing a hot stone or esalan style massage.The website is http://www.natural-formulations.com if you're interested.  I have no affiliation with them just satisfied with their product and service.Just my opinion.  Hope it helps.

Like Bodymovers said the stuff the school gave me was just plain ICK; the oils were heavy, hard to get out of the sheets, and the clients felt like they wanted to take a shower, the oil was so heavy. I didn't like it because it was hard to wash off with just plain soap and water off of your hands.

My mentor gave me HobaCare from Boston Jojoba ( http://www.bostonjojoba.com/ ) as a graduation present from school. I haven't used another oil since. It's rather light, it doesnt go rancid, and I can get it out of the sheets. I can also add scent to it, so that I can customize my oils for clients if they wanted to. The biggest reason that I use it is because it has a very low 'ick' factor on new clients, and it's good for the skin and hair. The only drawback it has is that it freezes at about 55 degrees, otherwise it's a great product!

I'm a Biotone girl, myself...I used to use the Dual Purpose, because it just works so well, but I like to use a tube in a holster, and the stuff is so thick, I kept cracking the refillable tubes trying to squeeze it out....So, I switched to their Herbal Select cream, which comes out of the tube very easily, lasts a long time, smells really nice, and I've never had a problem with smelly sheets (with any of their products, actually).I use Earth Therapeutics Tea Tree Oil Foot Repair Balm, heated in a lotion dispenser, on feet -- the tea tree oil neutralizes odors very well, and the feet feel so soft afterward!I also use Biotone's Herbal Select face therapy lotion for facial massage; clients love the smell of it.  And the Advanced Therapy cream for those who prefer completely fragrance-free. Santa Barbara creams are my current favorite.  The scents are very light, but nice.  It allows a nice glide, but is very controllable.  I've used different biotones, and straight up jojoba, but for straight out of the jar use, they can't be beat.  Plus, no spills, and   a little goes a looong way.Mike

I've used the Earth Therapeutics Tea Tree Oil Foot Repair Balm as well, and have always been well pleased with it. I have also had raves from clients when I use Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Cream on their sore or calloused feet. I do enjoy providing a little extra luxurious product on the client's hands and feet such as this... even when I do my regular swedish massage. To me, it's just going that extra little mile to turn their brief massage into something extra special... for that half hour or however long their massage is... they are getting the "Royal Treatment."  ;DEven if they are there for some kind of injury, there's no reason we can't spoil them a little bit, is there?

My clients and I love Biotone Advanced Therapy Gel.  I've never had a problem with rancid sheets - I wash them promptly.  Many clients have said they wait until the next morning to shower because they like the way it feels on their skin.  I also use creams from Twelve Corners.  The Clary Sage and Lavender is wonderful for necks that even the most die-hard "I refuse to give in and close my eyes" clients can't resist. Their Cooling is a nice mix of peppermint and spearmint that I use on feet and hands.Scav

IMHO, they're better. I am a big fan of oil gel formulas.  They're great for deep work. You get plenty of glide, without making the client greasy so you slide all over the place.  I actually have a more difficult time using some of the rich creams because I get way to much glide.

Hello Neomassage, Maestra is right on target.  Only my favorite is Lotus Touch Rich Moisturizing Creme.  It carries on the back of your hand and the response from clients is always positive...

If you have someone who has sensitive skin I always use Elta's PMOil or PMCreme.  We use it on client's who are under going chemo or have extremely sensitive skin.  There are no additives or extracts.Some of my therapists use Biotone's Advanced Gel, but not on someone with sensitive skin.  Client's occasionally complain about the smell, but most like it.So it all depends on the skin type.  I hope this helps.Beatrice, RMT

I'm another one that swears by jojoba - all natural, no preservatives needed.  It's actually a plant wax rather than an oil, and very similar to the skin's sebum, so it absorbs very well, without that slimey coating, and it washes out very well with normal detergent.  I also use aromatherapy essential oils in the jojoba - at least you know that the essential oils aren't being blocked from being absorbed by some huge molecule.  I use 25ml, less than a fluid ounce, for a whole body massage, unless they are hairy or pregnant - then they get an extra teaspoon, if really, really, hairy I resort to a bit of almond oil.I've not investigated other stuff as I'm so happy with the jojoba, but I found this article the other day Does Your Job Make You Sick? - just something else to consider.  (you can get the same type of thing from over exposure to some aromatherapy essential oils, which is why it is always a good idea to use a variety of blends)
