What should I do? I'm 32 weeks pregnant in the Marines and I have a GySgt

that wont honor my medical chit? I'm a Sgt in the Marine Corps and I am 32 weeks pregnant. Due to my history of losses in the past I am considered very high risk. I work in a building that doesn't have air conditioning in NC and my command has me working at least 8-10 hours a day. My Obgyn wrote me a medical note stating that I'm not to work more than 6 hours a day including chow but my GySgt says that chow doesn't count and makes me work past my hour restrictions. He literally screamed at me until I had a panic attack when I brought the medical note in with the hour restrictions calling me a malingerer and saying a lot of hateful things. What can I do? I'm afraid to fight him because I still have to face him everyday and I cant handle him screaming at me but on the other hand I'm worried that The heat and stress could hurt my baby! Thanks for the help
Just to be clear, when I say losses I'm referring to 2 miscarriages and a stilllbirth in the past. I had no control over what happened back then and I dont think that I should be referred to as irresponsible for having lost children in the past.

wow! in the army a pregnant women gets a prophile form the docs at the clinic and we all knwo she is allowed to work only so many minutes. Why od they not do this for marine females or do you not know about gettign a pregnant prophile at your clinic on post???? I mean really, the pregnant women in my unit really got over and two weeks off to recover. They could not be around chemicals (I was a printer) and such. Has your CO even counseled you as all women need ot be counseled about if you are stayign in or gettign out??? if not this is a major EO or IG complaint this CO is not doing his JOB!!!!

Anyone going against medical advice, especially in the government, is open for serious prosecution should something happen to you or the baby. If you don't know what to do, go to any chaplain and explain. Any chaplain worth their salt will put the proper actions in motion. If you would have taken care of your "losses" before all this, I am sure you would not be in the situation you are in now. Take this as a wake up call, and square your a** away. I am sure your future baby will need, deserve,and want someone who is responsible

I don't know much about the military but all I can say is do what is best for the baby. He obviously has no idea what it's like. Is there anyone else you can talk to about it? Someone in a higher position? Ask yourself what is more important and don't be scared to stand up for yourself. I know it's easier said than done because I don't know this person but you should never be afraid to stand up for yourself. I hope everything goes well.

Is your OBGYN a Navy doctor? Explain it to him he will know what to do. Is your husband a Marine? Call the IG if you don't satisfaction. The Gunny is being insubordinate if he is disobeying the order of a superior officer in the Medical Corps. What about your CO?

Sergeant, you are an NCO of Marines and you should know the answer to this question. NCOs need to answer -not ask- these questions. If one of your Marines asked you this, what would you tell her?

You'd tell her to use her chain of command. If your Gunny is the NCOIC, talk to the 1stSgt of the company. If you aren't comfortable with that, talk to a SNCO outside your chain of command for advice. If all else fails, ask the Chaplain for guidance.

That medical note is a recommendation to your chain of command, by the way: it is not the 'law.'

Since you are in the military you should know to use your chain of command. If you have a clearance I would revoke it on the basis of you being a security risk and whining to a public site.

If you are a Sgt, you have been in long enough to know about the Chain of Command. If you don't use it, it is your fault. This is assuming the Ob/Gyn is a military Doctor. otherwise, it will look like you ARE a malingerer trying to get out of work and using a civilian to do so.

OR!!!! Jump the chain of command. You wont get a thing done with out ruffling as few feathers. he needs to understand that yes you are a marine first but your baby is first now are you married? i don't mean to offend or anything but my friend at PEndleton was a single marine and pregnant and got alot of the same treatment from her c o. just do what you have to do for your health and your babys!
