who rings the bell
why

i dont mind ringing the bell, as the BGs love a good heart in the quiet times.
I prefer to buy a bottle and share amongst the bar, the BGs might not get a cut of the drink, but good value.
In several of the bars in patong, i always ring the bell on my first day and my last day, a sort of happy to be in los and sad to be going back to work.
I always like to buy the old BGs a drink, one time i thought this old girl can not get to many customers, but after talking to her she had semi-retired after 10 years working in japan.
I think maybe she has more money than me.

It's a way to say "hello, nice to meet you', to all of your new friends. So if you want to show that you're a friendly guy, ring the bell in every bar you go into.

Why? As Safeas explained to be the King, man who shouts bar gets most attention from bg's, bar owner ,bar staff get it.

It just means you buy the whole bar a drink.. Somethimes thats one of those mixer drinks (ranging from crappy to almost bearable) or what each punter wants or was drinking before or you can name it (say Black Vodka / Black Death etc)...

Some bars I will some bars I wont.. When it you and a bunch of your mates its pretty much just shouting a round, then they can do it in return..

There's no actual reason for doing it, it's just a case of this is what happens if you do ring it.


Most people don't, but as has already been mentioned, it's a way of getting to know the bg's and the others that might be in the bar at the time.


You will see them on the right hand side of your screen when posting a message, all you do is click on one and it will appear where your cursor is located on your posting. What is confusing, is that you don't actually see the "smilie", just the text associated with it, for example appears as the word "cool" and has a colon ":" placed either side of it. It doesn't appear as the smilie itself, but will do so when you have submitted your message.
