Like I told you, there is no federal written law that says that protitution is legal. No state law, nor local.
Nor is it in my home town of Monterrey Nuevo Leon.
As a matter of fact, one of the local mayors, when the political party PAN was in office, they struck down all aid to prostitutes (health care, helath related medical checkups) under the basis of that, that prostitution is illegal and no county money should be directed to aid an illegal activity.

In short it says that there are 4000 women that work as prostitutes, no white slave traficing BUT it mentions that prostitution in Mexico is illegal.

That is news to me. Thanks for the heads up, dude. it was my understanding that constitutional amendment 132 (for which the main drag of the Zona Norte is named) legalized prostitution in Mexico, as a thanks to the pros that helped finance the revolution.

I have never heard of a single arrest or raid or crackdown in TJ or any border town. There is actually a police station smack dab in the center of the Red Zone in TJ. I have picked up SG in the presence of police and have seen police enter clubs where prostitution was openly going on and noone batted an eye. And this is Mexico, the land of corrupt policia. So, are you sure about that?

Excuse me Kittyfreak. With all due respect, but prostitution is not legal in Mexico. It might be tolerated and not persecuted in TJ and accepted in the whole of Mexico, but it is not a legal enterprise as you say.
To be legal it has to be written law and that does not exist nowhere in the State of Baja California Norte.
Prostitutes and people who solicit girls for unlawful carnal knowledge are subtect to fines and jail. Fines go for 400 pesos for girls and 350-500 for the customer (depends on the Municipio rules).
But legal... nope.

By Mexican standards she is doing quite well (making more like $100/day up to $500/day, minus bribes and taxes) and is most likely supporting her whole family on her salary (boyfriend/husband, parents, and child/ren). The $60 you paid her for an hour of sex is SIX TIMES the average salary that someone her age and education level in TJ makes in a whole day of hard labor. Would you pity a 25 year old American hottie who pulled in $400/hour selling her ass? You know that this girl could be working at the factory or as a salesgirl, etc.

Prostitution is a legal enterprise in Mexico and she has chosen this work to make some fast money. Remember, this is her job. she could probably sense that you are a newbie and was just working you for extra money.
